Family Is Joy!!!

Hey friends. I just returned from a trip to Houston where I was blessed to be able to spend time with family. It wasn't until I got there that I realized how easy it is to fall into a mundane routine of work, home, bills, business, etc. (whatever your normal is) and forget that life is meant to be lived!

This journey of choosing to find joy is not always an easy one. People and things fight hard for our attention and affection. However, if we neglect the relationships that mean the most to us just because we live in a different city, state, or country, then we are missing out on an important part of life. There's a family-sized hole that needs to be filled. We went to Houston to celebrate my mother-in-law's 77th birthday. What a blessing! We saw family members that we haven't seen in years and were able to connect. Where there is family there is an unconditional love that abounds. It's unspoken...it's beautiful. We accept one another for who we are. No need to put on airs or try to live up to some pre-conceived image. Just being able to relax and be me...that's what I needed.

Travelling from Southern California where it hardly ever rains to Houston where it rained every day we were there was an interesting change of pace. I decided to look at the rain not as a damper on our mini vacation but as a cleansing. Just as the earth needs to be replenished, so do our spirits when they run dry. This trip offered exactly what I needed...replenishment, love, and joy!

Be blessed, my friends, and continue to choose to find joy in the little thigs in life!
